How to Create an Upsell Strategy in EditMyOrder.ai

This step-by-step guide explains how to create and configure an Upsell Strategy inside your EditMyOrder.ai app.

Upsells allow you to recommend additional products to customers after they place an order, helping increase revenue and Average Order Value (AOV).

Accessing the Upsells Dashboard

  1. Log in to Shopify Admin
  2. Go to Apps
  3. Open EditMyOrder.ai
  4. Click Upsells from the left sidebar

You will land on the Upsells Overview page.

Understanding the Upsells Dashboard

At the top, you’ll see a Summary Section:

Summary Cards:

  • Total Strategies → Total upsell campaigns created
  • Active → Currently running campaigns
  • Inactive → Saved but not live campaigns

This gives you a quick performance overview.

Viewing Existing Upsell Campaigns

Below the summary, you’ll see a table containing:

  • Name → Internal strategy name
  • Status → Active / Inactive
  • Discount → Enabled / Disabled
  • Starts At → Campaign start date
  • Ends At → Campaign end date
  • Actions → Edit / Delete

Step 2: Click “Add Upsell”

On the top-right corner, click the Add Upsell button.

This will open the Create Upsell Strategy page.

Step 3: Fill in Strategy Details

Strategy Name

Enter a name for internal use only.

Example:

  • Post Purchase Offer
  • Winter Upsell Campaign
  • Accessories Upsell

⚠️ Note: This name is not visible to customers.

Status

Choose:

  • Active → The upsell will be live.
  • Inactive → The upsell will be saved but not shown.

Step 4: Schedule the Strategy (Optional)

You can control when the upsell runs.

Start Date

Select the date when the upsell should begin.

End Date

Optional — set an expiry date.

Use this for:

  • Seasonal campaigns
  • Limited-time promotions
  • Holiday offers

If no end date is selected, the strategy runs continuously.

Step 5: Configure Display Settings

This controls how the upsell appears to customers.

Section Title

This is the heading customers will see.

Example:

  • You may also like these products
  • Complete your order
  • Add these before shipping

Call-to-Action Text

This is the button text customers click.

Examples:

  • Buy Now
  • Add to Order
  • Upgrade My Order

Make it clear and action-oriented.

Step 6: Enable Discount (Optional)

If you want to incentivize customers:

  1. Check Enable Discount
  2. Enter Discount Percentage
  3. Enter Discount Code

Example:

  • 10%
  • Code: SUMMER10

Customers will see this discount applied when adding the upsell product.

Use this to:

  • Increase conversion
  • Encourage impulse add-ons
  • Promote slow-moving inventory

Step 7: Add Product Modules

Now you need to define what products will be shown.

Click + Add Module

A popup will appear asking you to select a module type.

Module Types Explained

1️⃣ Single Product Upsell

Shows one specific product as the upsell offer.

Best for:

  • Highlighting a bestseller
  • Offering a warranty product
  • Promoting a specific accessory

2️⃣ Group of Products

Displays a curated selection of products.

Best for:

  • Accessory bundles
  • Complementary items
  • Cross-selling categories

3️⃣ Collection Upsell

Shows products from a specific Shopify collection.

Best for:

  • Seasonal collections
  • Related product categories
  • Automatic dynamic recommendations

Step 8: Select & Confirm Module

  1. Choose your module type.
  2. Click Select.
  3. Configure the products inside the module.
  4. Confirm your selection.

You can add multiple modules if needed.

Step 9: Configure the Module

After adding the module, click Configure.

A product selection popup will open.

Step 10: Select Products

Inside the popup:

  1. Use the search bar to find products.
  2. Use filters if needed.
  3. Check the checkbox next to each product or variant.
  4. You can select multiple items.

At the bottom, you’ll see:

X products selected

Once finished, click Select.

Step 11: Set Items Visible

After selecting products:

You can control how many products appear using the Items Visible field.

Example:

  • If 3 products selected
  • Set Items Visible to 5
  • Only 5 will show to customers

This keeps the display clean and focused.

Step 12: Review Selected Products

You will now see:

  • Product image
  • Product name
  • Variant selected
  • Quantity option
  • Remove icon (trash icon)

If needed, you can:

  • Remove products
  • Reconfigure module
  • Adjust visibility

Step 13: Save the Strategy

At the top of the page, you’ll see:

  • Save
  • Discard

Click Save.

If you see “Unsaved changes,” make sure to save before leaving.

⚠️ If you exit without saving, your upsell will not be created.
