Step 1: Go to Search Appearance

You'll be taken to Google Search Console. Click Add a website to begin registering your store's domain.

Step 3: Enter Your Store URL
Under URL prefix, enter your store's full URL , then click Continue.

Step 4: Verify Ownership

Under HTML tag, click Copy to grab the meta tag. You'll paste this into your Shopify store's theme code next, then come back and click Verify.

Step 6: Open Theme Code
Go to Online Store, then click the "..." menu next to your active theme to access the theme's code editor.

Step 7: Edit Code
From the dropdown menu, click Edit code to open the theme's code editor.

Step 8: Paste the Meta Tag
Erase @example on line 9 and paste the meta tag code you copied from Google Search Console in its place, then click Save.

Step 9: Save
The meta tag is now pasted on line 9. Click Save to update your theme code.
