## How Loyalty Palms Works in Shopify POS 
### Help Center guide: complete your first redemption  
Loyalty Palms lets your staff redeem customer points directly in Shopify POS. Scan the customer’s member QR, choose a reward, and the ++**discount is applied to the cart**++ in seconds. This guide walks you through completing your first redemption, the last item on your POS launch checklist. 

### Step 1: Open the Shopify POS page 
In the Loyalty Palm app, go to ++**Shopify POS**++. The ++**POS launch checklist**++ shows four items. The last one, **Complete first redemption**, is what you’ll do in this guide. 
**Important:**  The first three items (**Create a POS reward**, **Turn on a POS reward**, and **Add Loyalty Palms tile to POS smart grid**) must be marked **Done** before you test a redemption.

### Step 2: Open the Loyalty Palm tile in Shopify POS 
On the Shopify POS home screen, tap the ++**Loyalty Palm**++ tile. Once a customer is in the cart, the tile shows how many rewards they can use, such as **3 rewards available**.

### Step 3: Scan the member QR 
If no customer is attached to the cart yet, tap ++**Scan member QR**++ and scan the customer’s QR code. You can also find or create the customer’s profile in Shopify POS and attach it to the cart. 
**Important:**  Add products to the cart first. Rewards can only be redeemed when the cart has products in it.

### Step 4: Review the points and choose a reward 

Once the customer is attached, you’ll see their ++**Points balance**++, **Pending** points, and how many rewards are available. In the **Rewards** tab, under **POS redeem discounts**, each reward shows the points it costs. Tap ++**Redeem**++ next to the reward the customer wants.

### Step 5: Confirm the redemption 

A pop-up shows how many points will be deducted, plus the ++**Current balance**++ and the balance ++**After redemption**++. Tap ++**Apply reward**++ to confirm, or **Cancel** to go back. In this example, 100 points gives 10% off the cart. 
**Important:**  The pop-up warns that the reward **may not combine with other discounts in the cart**. Check the cart for other discounts before you apply the reward.

### Step 6: Check the Applied tab 

The reward now appears in the ++**Applied**++ tab with its discount code and the points redeemed. A green ++**Discount applied to cart**++ message confirms it worked.

### Step 7: Check the cart and complete checkout 


Close the Loyalty rewards screen. The discount appears under ++**Order discounts**++ in the cart and the total is reduced. Tap ++**Checkout**++ and take payment as usual. Your first redemption is complete.

### Step 8: Share the How it works tab with your staff 


The ++**How it works**++ tab gives staff a quick reminder: customers earn points from eligible purchases, staff can redeem points once a customer is attached to the cart, and applied rewards stay visible in the **Applied** tab during checkout.

**Key points to remember** 
* Finish the first three **POS launch checklist** items before testing. 
* A **customer must be attached** to the cart, and the cart needs **products**, before you can redeem. 
* Always check the **After redemption** balance before tapping **Apply reward**. 
* Rewards **may not combine** with other discounts in the cart.
